Marking the start of unread messages within a conversation helps you continue reading messages where you left off. You can do this on both your iOS and Android devices.

1. Open the RingCentral app.
2. Open the message, then tap on it.
3. Tap the Flag (Mark unread from here) icon. If the Flag icon does not show on the snack bar, you can tap the 3 dots icon. Tap Mark as unread.

Limitations

• The "Mark unread from here" action does not appear on the snack bar when the conversation thread is opened from Search, Bookmark, or @mention.
• Message(s) that are "Marked unread from here" will instantly get read if a conversation is opened in multiple clients.
• All messages will be read if a new message is sent after the mark happened.
• The feature will be disabled and you will be unable to mark message(s) as unread when the data is not yet finished loading on the conversation.
• The @mention badge will not be kept.
• The first message in the conversation cannot be marked as unread.
• Messages that do not have their prior message loaded on the app cannot be marked as unread.
• Previous versions of the RingCentral app did not support "Mark unread from here," thus you may not be able to see the "New Message Indicator" in the right place after marking message(s) using the RingCentral app version 20.3 and up.
• The unread message indicator (UMI) count will be inaccurate when the RingCentral app is offline.

Sample Scenario:
The conversation list shows a UMI count of 5. The user marked messages as unread while on offline mode. One of the message posters deleted 1 message. Since the app was offline, the server did not recognize the message was "read through" so the UMI count still shows 5.
